Beautiful Story
What a beautiful story. This is the first story I’ve read that featured an African American boy (Noah) as a cowboy with diabetes. What I enjoyed about this book is the inclusive messaging that allows all children to see that any child can be a cowboy, and the story normalized having a health condition. Secondly, I loved that the author discussed diabetes in a child-friendly way, which isn’t an easy thing to do. I appreciated the love and support that the Uncle and Aunt gave Noah. An overall great story! I highly recommend it!

In addition to beautiful illustrations this story follows a young boy through a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. Beautiful message for an ever growing disease and how one boy doesn’t let it get him down.

The Rodeo King is an excellent book! The story encourages young readers to always strive for your goals, even when presented with obstacles/differences. I loved the storyline and the illustrations were bright and beautiful.
